How is the cost determined – Price Breakdown?
We provide you with a detailed quote upon receiving a client’s documentation. We detail the total costs and the required time to complete the project. Prices vary according to the complexity of the documentation. Our assessment is made on a per page basis, and each page is placed into one of three categories (easy, medium and difficult). We have no minimum price per project which is a prevalent practice in the industry. What you send is what you will be quoted on, whether it’s a one page or a thousand page document.
How much can we expect to pay for any given project?
We charge anywhere from $7 – $20 USD per PDF page (depending on the complexity). As every PDF document is different, we would have to review each individual PDF before an exact quote can be given, but an average of $60 USD per hour can be expected.
Why would I not just fix my PDF documents internally?
Because of Time, Quality and Price.
Time: You must train someone to effectively remediate documents which takes months and even when they are fully trained it still may take him/her 1 – 4 hours to fix any given page. PDF Techs consultants are already trained and can fix documents, on average, 3 – 4 pages per hour.
Quality: Even after training and testing can you ensure that the document is Section 508 compliant? PDF Techs ensures all documents are 100% Section 508 compliant before returning the document back to the customer.
Price: After purchasing tools, investing in training and then actually getting the employee to output maybe 1 page every 2 – 3 hours, PDF Techs is still cheaper. Assume you pay your employee $20 – $30 USD per hour. At the end of the day you have paid $160 – $240 USD and only have anywhere from 4 – 8 pages of fixed PDF pages that may or may not pass Section 508 requirements. For approximately $480 USD a day PDF Techs can output approximately 24 – 32 pages of PDF that are %100 Guaranteed Section 508 Compliant. It would take your employee approximately 4 – 8 days and approximately $800 – $1,600 USD of salary to get the same output that, again, may or may not be Section 508 Compliant.
What are my payment options?
We accept a number of payment options, including credit cards, certified checks, PayPal, money orders and bank transfers.
What standards do you apply to the documents?
All documents will be made WCAG 2.0 AA compliant. We can also work with you on adhering to specific organizational standards if the need exists. Although our standard tools and service practices are WCAG 2.0 AA specific, we often help clients with identifying ways of adhering to their own customized standards.
How do I begin the process?
To initiate the process, all we require is that you provide us with the tagged PDF documentation that you wish to remediate. Please note that due to the difficulties associated with remediating PDFs and altering the end product once it is complete, it is important that we have the final documentation. Also, this is a great time to advise us of any specific accessibility standards that may be set by your organization so that we are aware of all requirements.
Do I have to pay money up front?
On most projects, we do not require that any money be paid up front to complete the required work until the end product has been delivered. However, we do reserve the right to ask for a portion of the funds in specific cases.
What is expected from me to start the process?
Simply indicate your requirement in our easy to use form and provide us with the documentation. One of our experts will then get back to you with a detailed report including associated costs of the project.
How do you remediate the documentation?
We have developed in house – methods and use cutting edge tools to ensure that documentation remediated by us goes far and beyond accessibility requirements that are standard in the industry. Unlike our competitors we have a designated team that conducts two rounds of testing on all documents and ensures that they are fully compliant with our accessibility specification before they are submitted back to the client.
What is the expected turn around time?
Each specific project is unique in nature; therefore it is really difficult to make a definitive projection. We are happy to discuss this via e-mail or phone conversation where once we see the documents to be remediated we can make an accurate estimation of timelines.
What is your guarantee policy?
We guarantee that your documents will be section 508 compliant. Your PDFs will not only be made accessible but also usable to persons with disabilities and people on the go who may be viewing your content on their cellular telephone or other portable browsers. We also guarantee that you will be provided with the best professional service in the industry and that you are well-informed every step of the way.
What will the end product look like?
The end product will look exactly how the original product looks like. Only one difference, it will be usable by people with a wide range of disabilities.
Do you provide consultation services?
Yes, we also provide organizations that may be looking for consultants to develop standards or assist in various aspects of accessibility. We also provide larger organizations with the unique option of consulting one or a number of our experts to provide in-house accessibility services at the clients’ location.
Do you have specific packages for different needs?
We have a number of packages that allow different size organizations to comply with section 508 requirements. Every case is different but rest assured we can provide you with a tailored package to meet your requirements and budget.
